Operating under the United Franchise Group umbrella, the Experimac brand was launched in November 2014 and already has 51 locations OPEN in the United States, as well as a pilot store in Sydney, Australia. There are 52 additional stores in various stages of development at this point in time.

Since Experimac specializes in selling quality, pre-owned Apple® products, their price points are accessible to a much wider range of customers than other big-box retailers.

After Years in Corporate and Manufacturing Worlds This MBA had Enough: Brings Unique Store to the Area

Experimac - Apple Experts

(Draper, Utah) – Apple product enthusiasts from Draper and surrounding communities will soon enjoy the affordable prices of pre-owned Apple© products to be sold from local resident Karl Vrba’s new Experimac store at 265 E. 12300 S, opening on August 17th.

A 39 year old West Jordan resident, Vrba is confident that his new store will enjoy popularity among the area’s strong market for technology products. “With today’s fast paced lifestyle, there always will be an ever increasing need for multiple technologies, and especially for wireless technology,” Vrba said.

Conveniently located at Interstate I-15 exit 291 East (12300 S), the new Experimac store will serve technology enthusiasts well beyond Draper, including Sandy, Riverton, South Jordan and Herriman. The store will offer a considerable line of renewed Apple© products ranging from computers and laptops to tablets and cell phones. They will sell for affordable prices and Vrba’s Experimac store will also provide low-cost repairs, and installation services.

After Vrba worked in the manufacturing industry for 18 years, he began a somewhat lengthy quest to find the perfect career opportunity that this store opening represents.

“In that manufacturing position, I eventually realized that I was in a dead-end job, with no growth opportunity,” Vrba recalls. He shifted to a retail position that afforded him time and money to return to school. But even after earning his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2015, Vrba discovered that corporate life, this time with a position in finance, was just not for him; and once again determined to break away to find his happy spot in business. “It was a different corporation, a different industry, but the same treatment. I knew I had to get out of the corporate world,” Vrba said.

His self employment opportunity quest focused on Vrba’s desire to fully use all of the diverse business, education and people skills he had picked up along the way. “Aside from wanting to use all of that business knowledge and education, I also wanted to use my passion for technology,” said Vrba, who explored many franchises before finding Experimac.

As he opens his Experimac store, Vrba at last takes great satisfaction that his substantial journey toward professional fulfillment led to a perfect professional fit. “Servicing customers in my Experimac store allows me to bring everything into play – my experience, education, enthusiasm for technology, and ability to service our communities, individuals and businesses,” Vrba says. He underscores the importance of individuals demanding such perfect fit in their careers. “Anyone who feels they are in the wrong place, the wrong company or industry, should take on that search for the right fit. All have advantages and disadvantages, but it is important to find the one that fits you best.”

Trading Potatoes For PCs: South African Couple Is Anxious To Introduce Fast-Growing Brand As Experimac Celebrates Sale Of 100th Store

Experimac - Apple Experts

(Cape Town, South Africa)- It’s a landmark event that’s no small potatoes. But truth be told, potatoes played a big role in making it all happen.

On Friday, Aug. 19, Experimac, the one-of-a-kind retail storefront concept that specializes in sales of pre-owned Apple® computers, devices and much more – will be celebrating the sale of its 100th store, scheduled to open this October in Cape Town, South Africa.

Julian and Cesca Nieuwoudt will be introducing and growing the Experimac brand in South Africa as master license partners. To say that 43-year-old Julian and 38-year-old Cesca are making an extreme career transition would be an understatement.

For two decades, Julian has been in the farming industry, specializing in potato seed production. With Cesca joining him in the business since marrying 15 years ago, they grew to become one of South Africa’s top 20 potato producers. But two years ago, the couple received an offer for their land from South Africa’s largest carrot grower, who was looking for additional farming land. They decided the time was ripe for change and sold their farm.

Looking for a new, exciting opportunity with outstanding growth potential, Julian discovered Experimac while doing some online research and was immediately intrigued by the retailer that not only specializes in the sale of pre-owned Apple® computers and devices, but also offers repair of laptops, phones and tablets; trade-ins of existing devices; software and system updates; and sales of accessories.

Operating under the United Franchise Group umbrella, the Experimac brand was launched in November 2014 and now has 50 locations open in the United States with XX additional stores in various stages of development.

In addition to its entry into South Africa, Experimac recently opened a pilot store in Sydney, Australia. A master license has also been awarded for northern Mexico, with the pilot store already in development, while a deposit has been received for a master franchise in Chile. Plans are also under way for expansion in Canada, France, Nigeria and western Africa.

The Nieuwoudts will open their first Experimac in the Willowbridge Shopping Centre in Cape Town and plan to open an additional five stores themselves in the Western Cape while selling franchises in all major centres of South Africa including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Port Elizabeth.

“We are looking forward to opening our pilot store and working with the United Franchise Group to build Experimac into one of the most well-known and reputable brands in South Africa,” Julian said.

As if launching new careers wasn’t enough, the Nieuwoudts are also uprooting their family and moving almost 1,000 km from their current home in Bloemfontein, Free State to Wellington in the Western Cape by year’s end.

“Making the move to the Cape is a challenge, but it is also something we both knew we would have to do,” Cesca said. “Besides, the Western Cape is the most beautiful part of South Africa and we are really looking forward to calling it home.”

For the Nieuwoudts – who estimate they have invested more than $400,000 in launching their new venture – the timing couldn’t be better for meeting the needs of consumers. The technology sector is obviously booming. In 2014, about 302 million computers were sold worldwide, generating about $304 billion in sales revenue. At the same time, nearly seven billion cell phone subscriptions were purchased worldwide by May 2014, nearly one for every person on the planet.

According to Franchising.com, having a blueprint for international growth has been increasing in popularity for U.S.-based franchisors. According to Franchising.com’s findings, “80 percent of the world’s population lives in areas that are considered emerging markets. The U.S. Department of Commerce estimates that over 75 percent of the expected growth in the world’s trade over the next two decades will come from developing countries, particularly big emerging markets, which account for over half the world’s population, but only 25 percent of its gross domestic product.”

In addition, the report said that finding well-qualified master franchisees outside the U.S. can pave the way for growth of a franchise because “the qualified master franchisee can be the key to identifying and recruiting talented franchisees who fit the system and successfully execute the franchise concept.”

Since Experimac specializes in selling used products, particularly used Apple® products, the products can be sold at a price point that is accessible to a much-wider range of customers. When customers enter competing retail stores that sell new computers, Smartphones and tech equipment, only one out of every 100 or so people actually purchase something because of the high price point, but they are much more likely to buy at Experimac.

Experimac customers typically enjoy average savings of 60 percent on pre-owned Apple® products over big-box retailers. And Experimac takes the risk out of purchasing pre-owned equipment with a 90-day guarantee. If something breaks, Experimac will repair or replace the defective part at no cost.

“Apple® is a brand that is respected throughout the world. It is in high demand because of its reputation, but its products are also expensive to buy and repair,” Cesca said. “With Experimac, we will be able to supply South Africa with quality, pre-owned Apple® products with a warranty, as well provide a place to repair and upgrade all your Apple® products. And all work comes with a guarantee!”

Experimac Opens on Ford Road in Canton

HomeTown Life

Experimac Canton

Everyone has their limits, including John Park. “I just couldn’t get that excited and motivated about selling plastic resin anymore,” the 50-year-old Novi resident said. “I’ve always had an itch to start my own business; I just needed the right vehicle,” he said.

For the 25-year veteran of the automotive industry and his wife, Karen, that “vehicle” arrived earlier this month when they opened Experimac in Canton. Experimac is retail storefront that specializes in sales of pre-owned Apple® computers and devices; repair of laptops, phones and tablets; trade-ins of existing devices; software and system updates; and sales of accessories. Experimac’s store at 42114 Ford Road. is the state’s only location.

John had spent his career in sales and purchasing, while Karen has a background in human resources.

“When my two-year contract ended at my last company, I wanted to do something different,” Park said. “I knew that just about anything dealing with Apple® products would be a success. The more I found out about the business model, the more excited I got and the more I knew this was the ‘vehicle’ I was looking for.”

The Parks have invested a large part of their savings into launching their Experimac franchise, and are hoping to meet a strong need in the area for consumers. The technology sector is obviously booming. In 2014, about 302 million computers were sold worldwide, generating about $304 billion in sales revenue. At the same time, almost seven billion cell phone subscriptions were purchased worldwide by May 2014, nearly one for every person on the planet.

Because Experimac specializes in selling pre-owned Apple® products, products can be sold at a price point that is accessible to a much-wider range of customers, according to the company.

“The strength and dominance of the Apple® brand is such a big plus,” Park said. “And the lifecycle of products continues to decrease as Apple® continues to innovate and introduce new products at a rapid pace, which is great for our business.”

And though the Parks just launched their entrepreneurial careers, they are already looking ahead to establishing something more.

“We both came from the corporate world. We have a 12-year-old daughter and twin boys who are turning 16 so we will have the boys work part-time,” John said. “Maybe someday this will truly be a family business.

Relocated Employee Loved McKinney So Much He Stayed There To Open Family Business

Experimac - Apple Experts

(McKinney, Texas) – Sometimes there’s nothing more difficult than relocating to a new state and putting down roots. Throwing in the dynamic of opening one’s own business would seem to double the anxiety, but the idea hasn’t seemed to faze one of McKinney’s newest (literally) entrepreneurs.

On May 10, 49-year-old Jeff Thwing opened the doors to Experimac, a one-of-a-kind retail storefront concept that specializes in sales of pre-owned Apple® computers and devices; repair of laptops, phones and tablets; trade-ins of existing devices; and sales of accessories. Experimac is located at 2960 Eldorado Parkway, serving customers in McKinney and its neighboring communities.

Thwing and his family have only lived in McKinney since late 2013 after relocating from Ohio.
“We moved here for my last employer, but the strong feeling of community in McKinney is keeping us here and starting a new business instead of moving back to Ohio,” Thwing said. “Plus, when we found that we could build our store within our own community, it really sealed things for us.”

Most recently working as an Internal Management Consultant, Thwing said he has always placed a strong focus on customer service and believes that will serve him well as an Experimac franchise owner, especially since it meshes so well with one of his other traits.

“Our mission at Experimac is to create customers for life and that is something I have always believed in,” Thwing said. “And I have always played a technical role in my jobs, even if the job description did not require it. Combining a passion for tinkering with technology and delivering a positive customer experience will give us an edge.”

Thwing is hoping to meet a strong need for area consumers. The technology sector is obviously booming. In 2014, about 302 million computers were sold worldwide, generating about $304 billion in sales revenue. At the same time, nearly seven billion cell phone subscriptions were purchased worldwide by May 2014, nearly one for every person on the planet.

“The biggest trend I see in the industry is how personal devices such as tablets and smart phones are being used in so many different areas by such a wide variety of users,” Thwing said. “In addition, advances in solid state hard-drive technology are making it so much easier to store and retrieve large amounts of data.”

Thwing said his family will also play a role in the new business, with his wife, Kim, putting her human resources and operations knowledge to work behind the scenes and daughters, Jessica and Rebecca, also contributing.

“Of course, I will be tasking our social media exposure to Rebecca, our youngest, since she is most familiar with those methods,” Thwing said with a smile.

Jim and Jamie Spisak Featured in Dallas Morning News

Jim Spisak and his daughter, Jamie, were recently featured in The Dallas Morning News.

Jim Spisak, 59, and Jamie Spisak, 28, both left careers in corporate America to launch a business of their own. Last month the father-daughter duo will opened their Experimac franchise location at 4709 W. Parker Rd., in Plano.

Experimac is a one-of-a-kind retail storefront concept that specializes in sales of pre-owned Apple® computers and devices; repair of laptops, phones and tablets; trade-ins of existing devices; system updates; and sales of accessories.

Such life-changing career decisions were once considered fraught with uncertainty, but in today’s economy, the reaction is much more likely to be, “Good for you! I wish I was doing the same.”

And apparently, more people are doing just that. According to a Harris Poll conducted in April of 1,553 unemployed people, nearly one-fifth had quit their jobs due to an improved economy and labor market. Staffing firm Express Employment Professionals commissioned the poll.

It might come as a surprise, but each month almost three million Americans voluntarily leave their jobs. According to the most recent figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 2.7 million “voluntary quits” in September. The number of quits has held steady between 2.7 million and 2.8 million for the past 13 months after increasing steadily since the end of the recession.

“It’s a great feeling to say that we are going to be running a family business after both my daughter and I came out of corporate America,” Spisak said.

Experimac in Cape Coral, FL

Kevin Lynn recently opened a new Experimac franchise in Cape Coral, FL. His store opening was recently featured in the Cape Coral Daily Breeze.

Just before the holidays, Kevin Lynn brought Experimac, a new retail and repair store for Apple products, to Cape Coral. Experimac refreshes pre-owned iMac computers, MacBook laptops, iPhone and iPad mobile devices, ensures that the products are in perfect working condition and sells them at a much reduced price compared to new Apple products.

Everything it sells is warrantied for 90 days and if Experimac can’t fix it, it will replace it. The business also repairs and upgrades Apple products, including the need for mobile device screen repair.

While sales and repairs are a core part of the business, it also purchases pre-owned Apple products and takes them as trade-ins towards other products.

Accessories are also a major part of the business. From phone and tablet cases, to laptop cases, adaptors and cables, Experimac has most of what the average customer needs.

Through Experimac, located at 1031 Santa Barbara Blvd., Lynn is bringing the newest concept from industry veteran United Franchise Group to serve customers throughout the Cape Coral area, including Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Lehigh Acres, Estero Island, Pine Island.

Experimac is the latest addition to the United Franchise Group family of brands, joining a team with over 30 years of franchise experience.
