Unpredictable Valentine

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that can seem a bit repetitive when it comes to gift giving.

Unfortunately, the standard go to gifts of flowers and plain boxed candy just aren’t that popular as in days gone by.

Creating memories is key so here in lies an opportunity to add some interactivity and unpredictability on that special day of LOVE.

Pick up that trusty mobile device of yours and do a little research. Get creative and look for interactive and tantalizing experiences that will thrill your loved one.

Still need help? Here are a few suggestions from the Experimac Midtown Atlanta staff:

  1. Take a Cooking Class – They say cooking is a way to the heart, so why not take a cooking class together? (You won’t even have to do the dishes after!) A local culinary school or culinary retailer may offer cooking, baking, or sushi-making courses that will be sure to enhance your culinary skills.
  2. Go on a Scavenger Hunt – If you’re feeling ambitious, plan out a scavenger hunt! Leave notes hidden away at places you perhaps went on special dates or have a significant memory of. It will be a great trip down memory lane as well as a fun-filled activity.
  3. Learn to Make Chocolate – Forget forking up the money to buy pre-boxed chocolates; why not learn how to make heart-shaped truffles yourself?
  4. Get Competitive – Shoot some pool, play a round of golf, challenge each other to a game of ping-pong, and find yourself enjoying the activity but also a little friendly competition.
  5. Volunteer – Since Valentine’s Day is all about the celebration of love, consider volunteering your time as a couple at a soup kitchen, local church, or nursing home and make someone else feel loved. You will not only make a difference in someone else’s life, but the bond of volunteering together is also a romantic, feel-good feeling that will last a lifetime.

Pick one or pick two! Just be sure to have fun, create memories and LET US KNOW how you spent your day of love.

After the confetti has been cleared from the streets and the crystal ball stored away for another year, resolutions have been made, posted online and are in the process of fulfillment.

For many people, exercising, saving money and reducing stress are top priorities. Luckily there are a few apps that can aid in accomplishing those resolutions.

Here are a few of Experimac Midtown Atlanta’s favorites:

  1. Apps like 30Day Fitness Challenges are designed to ease you back in to an active life. This app focuses on one exercise that uses your own bodies weight and begins with low repetitions and gradually increases over the course of 30 days. You should have a noticeable improvement at the end of each month. The areas of focus can change and you can also change the level of intensity from beginner to intermediate and then to advanced, so you have plenty of room to develop.
  2. Digit is an app that helps you save money. Digit moves small amounts of money from your bank account to your digit savings account. This is done daily and the amounts are small enough where it won’t cause an overdraft in your account. The acorn app is the app that rounds up the cost of your purchases and uses the collective difference as a means to invest. So essentially whenever you purchase something the cost is rounded up to the nearest dollar and the amount that is over the actual cost of your purchase is saved and invested for you.
  3. The Headspace app uses conventions such as screen dimming and notification blocking as just a few of the means to help you de-stress by crafting a phone life balance. Meditation Studio is another app option to help with stress. This app provides both guided and unguided meditations that cover topics such as pep talks, slowing down, profound relaxation and more.

Happy New Year and please let us know your thoughts about these new Apps.
